“We accept the love we think we deserve.”
*Sighs*. I have literally pressed the delete tab on my laptop atleast 10 times because I just didn’t know how to start. I just finished reading “The Perk of being a Wallflower” and it was amazing experience. I was over whelmed. Like Charlie (the main character) writes ” Sometimes I read a book and I think i am the people in the book.” And even though i am not in school i could still relate to it. Because people are people and no matter what age they are, somethings like love, friendship, family always remain the same.
I had seen the movie based on this novel long back and it is one my favorite movies of all time. Maybe thats why I put off reading this book, since I had already seen the movie I thought I wouldn’t enjoy it that much. There wont be that excitement to keep reading. But, I kid you not, I couldn’t put the book down. I didn’t even realise until I had finished reading it that I had not eaten in a long time.
Synopsis: It is a modern classic that captures the aching, confusing and glorious experience of being a teenager – all through the eyes, ears of the narrator, Charlie. Its a story about those wild and poignant roller-coaster days known as growing up.
What I Felt: I loved this book. From the start to the end. Firstly it’s in form of letters that Charlie writes to some US, the readers which makes it even more relatable. This is a first ever book that I have read which is in this format. There isn’t a definite plotline as such. It is a string of events and experiences that Charlie goes through in his first year in High School. The author has explained some of the complexities of life in such a clear manner that you get few of your “life questions” answered. I wont ramble much as things which are beautiful do not need 1000 words to describe them. They just are. And that is what this book is. BEAUTIFUL!
I would it a 5/5 Stars. 👻 👻 👻 👻 👻
In closing i would leave you guys with some of the gems from the book.
XoXo!!!
P.S. Watching the movie doesn’t spoil the essence of the book. They just go together like summer and lemonade.
P.S.S This is a part of my Re-Read books section.
I love this book and movie! I re-read this at least once a year and can never get sick of Charlie’s struggles or POV 😀
