I ‘ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

I usually keep my opinion about the book for the end but I didn’t know how to start this post ( still going through the brain freeze) so I ‘ll start with I just loved, loved, loved this book. I got this book delivered by Amazon Prime in less than a day and finished the 430 pages in 3.5 hours straight. So you can believe me when I say this book is awesome.

Synopsis: Jude and her twin Noah are close until a tragedy drives them apart. Now they are barely speaking- and both falling for boys they can’t have. Love’s complicated.

What I felt: If I didn’t emphasise it enough before I would say it once again I loved this book. The story pulls you in from page one and there is not a single moment where you will feel like putting it down. It just makes you feel alive. The characters are well written and one can instantly connect to them. Even the cover and title is perfect. You know sometimes you see something and you get that feeling that you gonna love it. That’s what I felt when I saw this book. It was love at first sight 😍

This book tells the story of Noah and Jude from both their perspectives. While Noah’s side of the story covers when they were 13-14 years old, Jude’s is 3 years later in the present day when they are 16. In Jandy Nelson’s own words:- Noah is this flood in a paper cup. He has a mad desire to draw, to kiss the boy next door, to peel the blue off the sky, to be the blue in the sky. And Jude. She used to surf and cliff-dive and do the talking for both twins, but something’s happened, and now she’s gone quiet and is living with ghosts and following her grandmother’s “bible” of superstitions.

This is a story about love, crazy complicated love of all kinds: between guys and girls, guys and guys, mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, artists and their art, the living and the dead. but mostly it’s about the fierce, roller coaster love between the twins themselves. The way it depicts the sibling relationship just touches a chord within you. We all love our siblings but also they are our biggest nemesis. They do have the special ability to annoy us like no one else. This story has everything. It makes you laugh, cry, ponder, go nostalgic about the memories of your first love and also makes you want to find someone special of your own. Both the love stories are really sweet and relatable. Whether it is the passionate love between Noah and Brian or the goofy awkwardly one between Jude and Oscar. It definitely reignited my faith in soulmates.

The way she explains the feelings the characters are going through, the inner workings of their mind is what makes the story so good. I especially loved the way Noah painted pictures in his head and the way it was put into words. Also the superstitious things Jude would do were hilarious. I wouldn’t mind reading her grandma’s bible. The little tidbits sounded interesting. This story is a complete package and I would most definitely be reading it again and again and everybody should read it.

The feels:

• When people fall in love they burst into flames.
• We were all heading for each other on a collision course, no matter what. Maybe some people are just meant to be in the same story.
• I gave up practically the whole world for you, the sun, stars, ocean, trees, everything, I gave it all up for you.
• Meeting your soulmate is like walking into a house you’ve been in before- you will recognise the furniture, the pictures on the wall, the books on the shelves, the contents of the drawers. You could find your way around in the dark if you had to.
• A person is just made up of a lot of people. Maybe we’re accumulating these new selves all the time. Hauling them in as we make choices, good and bad, as we screw up, step up, lose our minds, fall apart, fall in love, as we grieve, grow, retreat from the world, dive into the world, as we make things, as we break things.

I would give it a 5/5 👻  👻  👻  👻  👻

And for the first time I am just blank when it comes to who could be my dream movie cast for this. 😑
